when you join a site role-playing forum for the first time, and you read the rules you will find on most sites a rule that says: no god-moding , and you think to yourself. what does that mean ?. well i shall tell you.
god-moding is when you control a character that is not yours. for example. say i play hermione jean granger and she is in a thread with ronald billus weasley. i cannot say that ronald got up and left if the person who plays ronald did not state in there previous post that ronald got up and left.
there are some cases which god-moding may be permitted. these cases are: if a character is only passing by. such as a person who will only appear once and is not an actual character played on the site. another one is to pretend a character who has not be created yet ( a main canon character ) is there and may be role-played by those in the thread if he/she is needed. but remember all admin’s and sites are different so check before you post !
